Rental property booking tips:

Finding the best rental value:

  • In the Pamlico area area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right Pamlico area vacation home:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Farmhouse vibes, hidden gem in New Bern! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
