Savor your view from the cavernous top deck or the comfort of the enclosed porch. Walk down the pathway among the Cypress trees, flowering shrubs and tall grasses to savor your morning coffee on the bench at the end of the dock. During an evening visit with your special drink, relax with the sunset, listen to the rocking of the water while some fish jump, and often experience a gentle breeze. Sit back, forget, and relax from the hectic demands of your daily life.

There are multiple bird species in the area that frequent the garden and water areas just outside your back door. An occasional eagle will grace you with its presence. Don't be surprised if you see some deer visiting the neighborhood during the day and evening hours.

Unwind on the back deck or on the screened in porch and take in the sounds of nature from this wooded lot with a alluring view of water in the distance beyond the trees. Or sit on the bench on your own private boat dock on deep waters from which you are welcome to fish or crab. Bring your boat!

Our top New Bern vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Pamlico area area. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Pamlico area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Boat Dock! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
