Tips to get the perfect Pamlico area vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Pamlico area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- To find the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Pamlico area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose and book your Pamlico area rental:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Grey Goose (Waterfront) Historic New Bern - Private Beach - BRING YOUR BOAT! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Pamlico area beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
