Strategies to get the best Pamlico area rental experience:

When to visit New Bern & When to book:

  • To book the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Pamlico area area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Downtown Blue Manor 1 has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
