Getting the best New Bern vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Pamlico area area. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Pamlico area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Pamlico area area:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Spotless, comfortable and safe. Great location with excellent kitchen + backyard has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
