Vacation rental tips:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • In the Pamlico area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and choosing the perfect Pamlico area vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Historic Downtown home, steps away from dining and shopping! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Pamlico area rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
