Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. PEACE AND QUIET.. residential has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
