Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Pamlico area vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- To find the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the bestvacation home:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Hip Newly Renovated Historic Riverside Home in New Bern, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
