Tips for getting the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in New Bern. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Pamlico area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation home in the Pamlico area area:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Unique 2 Bedroom Condo
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Pamlico area beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
