Booking the best Pamlico area vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Pamlico area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in the Pamlico area area. Book your rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Pamlico area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the perfectrental home:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Unique 2 Bedroom Condo
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
