Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try changing your family's Pamlico area vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Pamlico area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. The Sanderling Tiny Cabin Water Access\/Private Shared dock has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual Pamlico area attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
