Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Pamlico area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental in New Bern:
- First and foremost, have your group choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Historic Downtown New Bern Condo -2 Bedrooms has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
