Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • In the Pamlico area area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Pamlico area area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. New Bern Waterfront Sunset has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a particular Pamlico area beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
