Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Pamlico area vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in New Bern. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick your Pamlico area rental:

  • Start by having your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Tryon Palace, Neuse River, Birthplace of Pepsi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
