The Wacky Turtle is an refreshed, gorgeous two story townhouse with it's own dock on a delightful canal. Bring your fishing rod! Tie up your skiff or modest fishing boat on your own dock. This striking home is in a "Norman Rockwell" like community which is safe for running, walking, and appreciating the outdoors. If you like to golf you are a stone's throw from the community golf course with a restaurant & open to the public. Appreciate your morning coffee and the charming view from the 2nd story balcony or from the deck off of the lanai or your personal dock on the water. Why is it named the Wacky Turtle? The turtles like to visit the dock area. Eat outdoors on the deck with the gas grille. Savor the view or have dinner in the Carolina Room (Lanai), with all windows over looking the canal on the first floor. The master suite has a full bathroom. The 2nd bedroom has an attached sitting room with a daybed/trundle. This is the room that can be used as a 3rd bedroom, separated by toile drapes. This bedroom has a balcony overlooking the canal. It also has a intelligent TV. WiFi is included throughout as well as 2 designated parking spaces convenient to the front entrance. Quaint & artsy downtown New Bern on the water is a short drive. Paddle over to the marina close by with a restaurant & bar. You may rent this townhouse by the nighttime (minimum of 3 nights), by the week, or by the (discounted) month. Golf & eateries are a stone throw away. Karaoke at Attitude's Pub on Friday nights or "Shag" to beach music on Sunday's.

Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

When to book a Pamlico area rental home & When to go:

  • Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Pamlico area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. LOVELY WATERFRONT TOWNHOUSE WITH DOCK, KAYAK & PADDLE BOARD has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
