Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in New Bern. To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Pamlico area area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the best rental in the Pamlico area area:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful 2 bedroom condo in the resort community of Fairfield Harbour has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Pamlico area beach you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
