Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Pamlico area area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 301 on Hancock - One Bedroom Apartment, Sleeps 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Pamlico area destination you love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
