Pamlico area vacation rental booking tips:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Pamlico area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Pamlico area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to choose and book yourrental:

  • First, have your family select trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Our Getaway Two has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
