Strategies to get the very best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best vacation home in New Bern:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Moonlight Studio 218 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
