How to get the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your Pamlico area vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Historic Downtown New Bern Condominium-1 Bedroom has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a specific Pamlico area attraction you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
