Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your Pamlico area vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Pamlico area area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best vacation home in the Pamlico area area:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Historic Downtown New Bern Condominium-1 Bedroom has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
