Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 2 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your group.
  • If there's an individual Pamlico area beach you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
