Tips for getting the best New Bern rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • In the Pamlico area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in New Bern. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Pamlico area area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
