Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:

When to visit New Bern & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Pamlico area area. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Pamlico area area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Pamlico area area:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Downtown Blue Manor 2 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Pamlico area rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
