Finding the best New Bern vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Pamlico area area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. The Sandpiper has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Pamlico area attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
