Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Pamlico area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Bearplex of New Bern featuring king-size bed has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
