Tricks and tips to get the best Pamlico area vacation home experience:

When to visit New Bern & When to book:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Moonlight Lake Suite has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Pamlico area rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a particular Pamlico area attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
