Finding the best vacation property experience:

When to go & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Pamlico area area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • In the Pamlico area area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect rental home:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Moonlight Lake Suite has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
