Getting the best Pamlico area vacation home experience:
When to visit New Bern & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:
- Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the best rental home in New Bern:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Moonlight Lake Suite has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
