Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is high season in the Pamlico area area. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Pamlico area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful 2 bedroom condo in the resort community of Fairfield Harbour has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
