How to find the best vacation home experience:

When to visit New Bern & When to book:

  • Summer time is high season in the Pamlico area area. Reserve your Pamlico area vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Pamlico area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental in the Pamlico area area:

  • Start by having your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Conveniently Located 3 Bedroom 2 Bathroom has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
