  • Private vacation home

This private historic bungalow (c. 1850) is located in the heart of historic downtown New Bern and steps away from shopping, dining, and the waterfront. The bungalow was originally a law office and sits on the property of the historic Coor-Cook residence (c. 1790), listed on the New Bern Architectural Walking Tour.

Guests have access to the entire bungalow- one bedroom with queen-sized bed. Full bathroom. Eat-in kitchen. Separate living room. WiFi. Onsite parking for 1 car.

Please note:
-there is an active train track in Hancock Street. The train comes by most days and some nighttime. It does not blow a horn.
-the bungalow sits next to our family residence which includes two very friendly cats who roam the property.
-guests do not have access to the backyard of the main home; however, the bungalow has its own modest front yard space with a patio table and two chairs.
-both the bungalow and the main home next door are historic structures that require ongoing exterior routine maintenance and repairs (wood rot repair, painting, etc.). Host will make every attempt to limit the disruption this may cause guests, but guests should be aware prior to booking.

Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer time is high season in the Pamlico area area. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Pamlico area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Pamlico area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Cottage on Hancock - entire historic cottage has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Pamlico area vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a particular Pamlico area destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
